EOT Article :)

Greetings to all of my Perham friends,

It was great to see many of you during Homecoming Festivities. Congratulations to our Football team for their win. I loved watching the game, sipping my hot chocolate, hearing the cheers from the stands, and visiting with friends. Getting to see familiar faces and having the opportunity to catch up with many of you was the highlight of my evening. 

The community is busy as always. Cross-Country, Girls Swimming, and Football are off to a great start. Musical rehearsals for “Seven Brides and Seven Brothers” have begun as well. I enjoy hearing the updates and success stories of all activities. May all involved continue to work hard, stay positive, and of course enjoy the experiences they bring.

We have now come to the end of September. Time is already flying by! I can’t believe it. As you go about your week may you share your smiles, hugs, and love to the others around you. Many blessings!

Quick update, Lakes 99.5 PSA, and EOT article 9.22.11

Hello everyone!

I'm here in Perham this weekend and am loving every minute of it. Congratulations to the Perham Yellowjacket football team as they won their game last night! I had an incredible time watching the game and visiting with my fellow Perham family and friends.

Life is continually busy. College has me in constant motion, moving from one thing to the next. It's been a busy ride and worth every effort. Midterm is fast approaching as well as my performance in the musical Titanic in November.

Last weekend when I was home I recorded my Public Service announcement with Lakes 99.5. My message of "It's No Joke, Say No to Smoke" will now be on the air of 5 different radio stations in Perham and the surrounding areas. I'm looking forward for all of you to hear my message on the air. Be sure to be listening for a familiar voice! I wanted to post my article once again this week for all of my online readers. Here it is. I hope you enjoy it.

Miss Perham Article  (9.22.11)

It’s really starting to feel like fall! The smells are in the air, leaves are falling from the trees, hot cider is now in our hands, and fall jackets, scarves, and tennis shoes are now in style. We are blessed to experience many different seasons as Minnesotans. I always laugh when we think fall weather is cold. Soon the snow will be falling, and we will have temperatures in the negatives. Let’s enjoy this great fall weather we have. I have loved the cooler nights in my dorm room. I hope you are finding the joys of the fall season.

Perham Homecoming Week has arrived! Perham Public Schools have been busy celebrating with coronation, dress up days, sporting activities, and much more!  Congratulations to our Homecoming King and Queen and their court. What an exciting time for you and the student body of PHS. I have many great memories from past Homecoming festivities. I’m looking forward to visiting Perham, seeing familiar faces as well as experiencing homecoming as an alumni. This Friday our football team will be home at our field. I hope to see you there!

Greetings and well wishes! 

It’s refreshing to once again be with you in the EOT Focus. I have been a busy-bee here in Jamestown and surrounding areas. Over the weekend, I performed in Bismark with the JC Concert Choir and was visiting royalty at the Miss Moorhead and Miss Red River Valley Outstanding Teen Pageant. Congratulations to our new title holders! As I approach each week’s article I strive to send my encouragement, well wishes, and little inspirations. I hope this “little inspiration” finds you well. 

Much of my time is spent studying, in the practice room, writing, and juggling the everyday activities of life. At times, it is easy to become overwhelmed by lifes’ demanding schedule. I’m sure you can relate. This past week I was walking through the library at Jamestown College. A poster on the wall caught my attention. It read, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.” -Colossians 3:23. In midst of my fatigue from “hard work” the words gave me encouragement and much inspiration,  All of us have projects, jobs, families, and activities, which occupy our time and dedication. Whatever we give ourselves to, may we do it with all of our heart. 

I’m anxiously awaiting Homecoming at Perham High School. Best wishes and safe celebrations as we approach Homecoming week and festivities.

Hello all,

I've been a busy girl here in Jamestown and the surrounding areas. It's been an incredible ride! This week will mark Week 4 of college. I hope you are doing well!

Yesterday I traveled to Bismark, ND with the Concert Choir. We were invited to perform at the Fine Arts Festival. I was very excited to experience my first college choir performance. We spent the morning rehearsing and enjoyed a lunch provided by the church we were performed. The choir sang five numbers for a very receptive audience. I beamed when the audience stood after our program concluded. My first experience exceeded my expectations.

After returning to Jamestown I eat a quick supper, and got ready to head to Moorhead for the Miss Moorhead and Miss Red River Valley Outstanding Teen Pageant. At 6:25 I arrived at Moorhead High in perfect time to find my seat and enjoy the show. Congratulations to Ali Vali, Miss Moorhead 2011 and Ellie Bauchmann, Miss Red River Valley Outstanding Teen 2011. I am excited for the both of you! It was great to see familiar faces and enjoy the company of my pageant family. :) After the pageant I enjoyed a meal at Perkins with my great friend, Bailey and headed back to Jamestown.

10 years ago I was 8 years old, and our Nation experienced the tragedy of 9/11. As an 8 year old child I didn't understand the turmoil our Nation and it's people were experiencing. However, today as an 18 year old young women I have experienced and come to appreciate our Nation even more.

In January of 2010 my high school Concert Choir traveled to New York City to perform at Carneige Hall. I saw and experienced many incredible sights; Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge, Broadway, Central Park, and Carneige Hall. Towards the end of the trip our choir visited Ground Zero. I didn't know what to expect or how I would react to setting foot at Ground Zero. I can't describe every profound detail perfectly. Ground Zero is such a humbling experience and challenges each person to have gratitude. Gratitude, for the people who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001. At the end of the tour our choir saw "The Cross." Beams from the towers fell and created this cross on 9/11. On the left side is a fireman's jacket which melted to the cross. Today it stands proudly at Ground Zero as a symbol of hope for all. The Cross is my favorite memory from visiting Ground Zero.

I challenge you today on the anniversary of 9/11 to appreciate all that surrounds you. Your family, friends, health, and home can be changed in an instant, just as it did for many on 9/11. Have gratitude for  the people who sacrificed their lives and for their families who live without them. May we never forget the heros of 9/11.

Once again here is my article for this week! I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing my thoughts with you. :) This article focuses on the power of making good decisions for the betterment of your future. Enjoy!

After my JC Concert Choir performance in Bismark on Saturday I will be heading to Moorhead for the Miss Moorhead and Miss Red River Valley Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant. This program holds a special place in my heart as I held the title of Miss RRVOT just two short years ago. The year I represented the Red River Valley was an influential year of growth for me as an individual. I'm anxious to see the two new young women who will begin a year filled with much service to others.

Greetings everyone,
        I hope your Labor Day was as relaxing and enjoyable as mine was. After returning from my choir retreat in Jamestown, I spent a few days in Perham. It was quite refreshing to spend time with my family and be in our community.
        School is now back in full swing! I hope the transition has been smooth and exciting. Best wishes to all of you, as your activities and busy schedules have begun.
        The key to a successful school year is making a conscious effort to lead a healthy lifestyle. There will be times when we are faced to make difficult decisions. Each day we have the opportunity to make constructive decisions for the betterment of our future. My hope is that choosing not to smoke is part of your healthy lifestyle. "It's No Joke, Say NO to Smoke," is a quick way to remind yourself or your children to continue saying no! "Each day 6,000 teens try their first cigarette and half of them become addicted." Let's work together to make healthy decisions. May you walk in confidence with every decision you make.
       It's starting to feel like fall. I'm anxious to see the colors of the season. I hope your week is filled with many blessings!

New Article (pub. 8.1.11)

Hello everyone!

Oh my! It is starting to feel like fall. I can't believe how fast the time is flying. I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend as much as I did. After my choir retreat in Jamestown I spent a few days at home. I loved my time with family and I am now refreshed for more college. :)

It's time to post another article from the Focus. If you read it already, sorry for the repeat. This article was published this past Thursday, and is dedicated to the start of a new school year in Perham! I hope you enjoy it.

Hello everyone!

Summer has almost come to an end and I’m sure you are taking many opportunities to enjoy it for a little longer. I truly missed being at the turtle races this past Wednesday. I was thinking about all of you. Be sure to take advantage of the activities we have in Perham! We are so fortunate and blessed. 

Last week I officially “survived” my first week of my college experience. It was a crazy, busy, and a bit overwhelming time, but very new and exciting. I had my first few rehearsals with the Jamestown College Concert Choir, and have continued with classes. It has been a great time. The school year is always something I have anticipated. 

Many of you will be starting school this next week, are a parent of a student, or a teacher at Perham Public Schools. I hope you are anxious for the new experiences, new learning, and many new great memories this school year will bring to you. Students-stay motivated, and dedicated to work hard throughout the year in your academics, and activities. Best of luck to all of you! Parents-Thank you for supporting your children, we couldn’t continue without you.To our Perham teachers, may your year be filled with great joy as you continue educating, inspiring, and encouraging our generation. Our community provides such a valuable education to all who walk through the halls of Perham Schools. I am proud to say I was and always will be a yellowjacket. 

I hope you have a safe and great Labor Day weekend. Be sure to let yourself enjoy the days you have before the school year is back in full swing.
